Churachandpur Violence Update
It has been ten months since the violence broke out in the
state of Manipur, resulting in tens of thousands of people
being displaced. Many of these people fled their village
homes with nothing more than the clothes on their backs.
As the months drag on with little hope in sight of a quick
resolution, these displaced people are left looking for work
and for ways to provide for themselves and their families.
For One Life is launching a program to help displaced ladies
with supplies for weaving. Weaving is a cultural art, and most
women are skilled in weaving blankets, traditional blankets,
and other items.
For One Life will supply the weaving equipment, along with
the supplies for their first woven piece. After selling that piece,
the women will be able to use some of the earnings to buy the
supplies – at a discounted rate – for additional pieces.
Our prayer is that this program will be able to provide financial
assistance to some of the most needy and vulnerable people
in our communities. Our goal is to provide them with an
opportunity to provide for their families without creating a
long-term dependency on For One Life
